BALTIMORE (WMAR) — "I was so happy to get the call," said Tori Pendergrass.

The call came Sunday morning from a member of a New Jersey animal shelter's staff telling Pendergrass that they found her dog Nyla. The 2-year-old had been missing for more than 10 months. Pendergrass said she suspiciously disappeared from her yard in Baltimore on Mother's Day 2018; her other dog was still in the yard and her gate was closed. She started the frantic search for Nyla, who is microchipped.

"I just want my baby back," said Pendergrass the day it happened.

And now she finally has her back, safe and sound. She drove up to the shelter Sunday to pick her up after getting the call.

"She has, apparently, had a liter of puppies recently. Karma will get who ever was cruel enough to steal her, breed her, then put her out, but she’s back home where she belongs," said Pendergrass, who says this shows the importance of getting your pets chipped and never giving up on the search.
