BALTIMORE — A blighted area in Northeast Baltimore will soon become an eco-friendly community.
Work is underway to revive nine acres of land in the Coldstream Homestead Montebello community. Urban Green has been chosen to lead the project of the Tivoly Eco-village. It will transform what the area was into the future.
"This was among the most blighted spots in the City of Baltimore. It was difficult for this community to maintain property value, to attract new residents, to be the community this community aspired to be," said Michael Braverman, Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development Commissioner
The community will be the first where all homes will generate 100 percent of the energy they consume by using renewal energy sources like solar. When it's all done there will be 59 duplexes and 20 single-family homes.
