BALTIMORE — When it comes to addressing the violence in Baltimore, police staffing is a key issue, but there has been some improvement.
Police Commissioner Michael Harrison says last year the department had the highest retention rate in 10 years.
"We have taken great strides to improve our recruitment and retention in the police department including making significant investments in our new academy facilities, streamlining the curriculum to have more classes graduate more officers and put them on the streets 8 weeks faster than we were doing last year and in years past," Harrison said.
The department is still short by 300 officers.
