BPD investigating 12th May murder, 102nd of the year

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that happened just before midnight Wednesday.

Officers in the Eastern District were called to the 2100 block of Aiken Street, where they found an unresponsive man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The unidentified victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he died a short time later.

Just over an hour earlier, officers responding to a shot spotter alert found 28-year-old Shawanna Spann shot to the head in the 2500 block of E. Biddle Street. She too died at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

There have now been 12 murders in May, bringing the 2020 number of homicides to 102, the same number at this time last year.
