Long-time staple Camden Pub is shutting its doors.

It's been 26 years since it first opened, and this year will be the first opening day at Oriole Park in 25 years without Camden Pub.

Pat Liberto, the owner, said he'll always miss offering a consistent menu full of comfort food.

"We grew from a small, neighborhood bar with a very limited menu to a thriving establishment beloved by many," Liberto said. "We hosted Orioles Opening Day parties, welcomed University of Maryland students, U of MD Hospital staff, sports fans, and groups from near and far. We celebrated reunions, birthdays and, yes, weddings -- including my own."

The decision to close was not easy. Liberto said the Freddie Gray riots changed the city, in turn, affecting his business.

"People don't feel safe coming downtown. I see the same in other establishments. It seems that business is just down."  Liberto said. "Unfortunately, the economic environment in Baltimore City over the last few years, and in my opinion lack of leadership, has made it more and more difficult to sustain an operation such as mine. Camden Pub had a great run. We thank everyone for their long-time patronage and cherished friendship."
