BALTIMORE — Are you ready for some football?

So are the teens who worked hard during the hot summer practices. High school football is back and Baltimore City Council President Brandon M. Scott will introduce the first ever Kick Off Classic on Thursday.

The event will commemorate the start of the high school football season in Baltimore. On September 7, at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, six schools will face off in three separate games.

The first competition is at 1:00 p.m., Lake Clifton vs Carver; 4:00 p.m., Patterson vs City and at 7:00 p.m. Dunbar vs Mervo.

Council President Scott, alongside coaches and players will announce the classic outside of City Hall at 9:30 a.m. The games are apart of an effort to showcase student athletes and shine light on the city.

“Too often our young people are only talked about in reference to negative things happening in our city. While we know violence impacts our youth, it is also critical that we showcase the positive things they do and provide positive outlets for them,” said Council President Scott. “That’s what the Kick Off Classic does. It brings the city together as we celebrate one of our favorite things in Baltimore — our high schools.”

Advance tickets for the game can be purchased for $10 here.
