City leaders have a new plan to fight the opioid epidemic in Baltimore.
Officials will announcement the Levels of Care for Baltimore City Hospitals Responding to the Opioid Epidemic initiative Monday.
The plan will identify the best practices for hospitals to use when treating patients who have overdosed or have problems with opioid use.
This plan will include all 11 hospitals in the the area. Baltimore Citys' Levels of Care will be scored on the hospitals' ability to provide treatment to patients, connecting patients with peers or other support services as well as making sure that physicians are prescribing opioid's justly.
City officials said the new initiative is based on a similar one used in Rhode Island.
The announcement is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall.
