EW! Rat recorded crawling through bakery at Lexington Market

This video has made its social media viewers skin crawl! Especially if you are or was once a shopper at Lexington Market in Baltimore.

Buttercup Bakery was shut down Thursday after a rat was seen crawling around a display with baked goods and it was all caught on camera.

"Just grab him by the neck!" one shopper shouted when noticing the rat make its way to the tray of lemon snaps.

The video has traveled its way through Facebook with over 11,000 shares and about 316,000 views.

The bakery was immediately shut down when the rat was found in the stall. The health department says it will be temporarily closed until the problem is fixed.

Berger Bakery was also closed Thursday by the Health Department. A sign was seen at the market saying the bakery was closed do to the presence of flies.

Lexington Market posted on Facebook that the entire east market was serviced by their pest control contractor Thursday night.

The market reopened at its normal time Friday morning, but then closed at 11:30am. They released a statement:  "We are proactively making this decision to expedite our work with the Health Department, our merchants, our staff, and our pest control company. This will enable us to take every necessary step to ensure that we are providing the best possible experience for our customers. We will continue to update you on the steps we are taking and the time of the Market’s reopening."
