Chances are you either have a food allergy, or you know someone with a food allergy.
There are an estimated 15 million Americans with food allergies and the FARE Walk for Food Allergies is dedicated to raising awareness. Hundreds of people gathered Sunday at the Maryland Zoo to raise money for research for a cure.
"We have something called the teal pumpkin project which is really good for allergy awareness and inclusion of kids that do have food allergies," said Eric Jenson, a volunteer walk chairperson. "If you see a house that has a teal pumpkin or a teal pumpkin sign in its window, it's a sign that that house has allergy-safe treats."
Remember 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, so be mindful when it comes to purchasing goodies for those trick-or-treaters.
