BALTIMORE — The Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore is helping to fill the shelves at the Maryland Food Bank this winter with its "Food for Friends" donation drive.

From Jan 2-31, people with outstanding library fees can "pay" them off at any of the 22 Pratt library locations with canned goods.

For every canned good donated, one dollar will be taken off a person's fee. Fees can be for things such as lost or stolen materials or replacing a lost library card.

The donation will be capped at $50 per customer for the month.

“Both the Pratt Library and the Maryland Food Bank are in the business of access,” said Heidi Daniel, the Pratt Library President & CEO. “The Pratt provides access to information and opportunities while the Maryland Food Bank helps people access food and vital resources. This is a natural partnership and we’re proud to be a part of this citywide effort to give back.”

All canned goods must be unopened and unexpired. No glass containers.
