BALTIMORE — The former school of Thurgood Marshall is being revitalized!

On Friday, city officials announced the team selected to revitalize the former site of the Henry Highland Garnet School.

The property is on Division Street in Baltimore's Historic Upton Neighborhood. Marshall was a student there for six years.

Beloved Community Services Corporation will turn the property into a community center. It will include a legal clinic, gun violence and youth workforce development programs.

The building will also house artifacts from the late Congressman Elijah Cummings.

"We want to make sure that we do something in the building that really reflects on the neighborhood," said Councilman Eric Costello.

Beloved Community will also redevelop eight adjacent vacant lots on Etting Street.
