One year has passed since the step son of prominent Baltimore defense attorney Warren Brown son was gunned down in the city.
Cody Young was 22 when he was shot and killed on July 1st of last year. Police don’t believe he was the intended target. Today, Cody’s mother is working to turn the tragedy into change in the community.
In honor of her son, Donyelle Brown created the Cody Young Empowerment Youth charities to spread justice, love and education.
On Sunday, their first official event was held at the AMF bowling lanes in Towson, to raise money and fight against city gun violence.
Their motto; “Baltimore is not a leftover, let's make it over together.”
Brown hopes to reach more people across the city this summer by holding future foundation events.
