Monday the Greater Baltimore Medical Center dedicated one of its buildings in memory of a longtime supporter.

The Physician's Pavilion North, located on GBMC's Towson campus, was renamed the William E. Kahlert Physicians Pavilion North during Monday's ceremony.

The event included a plaque presentation and a look at the new sign on the outside of the building.

The dedication also includes a permanent display in the building with a picture of Kahlert, his biography, and the story of his family's connection to the hospital.

Kahlert and his family have given more than $13 million dollars to the GBMC.

"He had a great relationship with GBMC and the doctors and the staff here,” said Greg Kahlert, Kahlert’s son and the President of the Kahlert Foundation. “They enabled him after his diagnosis with cancer, to live an additional 12 years which we are very thankful and appreciative of."

In 2014 the chapel in the hospital was named the Yvonne Kahlert Chapel after Kahlert's wife, to celebrate and honor her legacy.
