A grant given to the Baltimore City Fire Department hopes to help hire, train and retrain city firefighters.
The $6-million grant comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
“Securing these federal resources is a tremendous win for our city,” said Congressman John Sarbanes. “By providing Baltimore’s first responders with the resources they need, and by filling the department’s ranks with additional well-trained and highly qualified firefighters, we can improve our city’s emergency response capabilities and make our communities safer.”
This grant also comes after news of potentially closing a fire station in Baltimore City.
