After long periods of speculation and expectation, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation will close the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge, better known as the Hanover Street Bridge, for repair work from Friday, July 20 to Monday July 23.
The closure will last from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, shutting down the bridge from Waterview Avenue to Cromwell Street.
The repair work will make structural adjustments to the bridge and resurfaced the badly damaged roadway, the department said in a statement. Detour signs will be posted to alert motorists, and travelers are encouraged to use Russell Street/I-295 as an alternate route.
