The Baltimore Department of Transportation is planning to complete their long anticipated Hanover Street bridge resurfacing project this weekend, the city announced Tuesday.

Already rescheduled twice, the work is slated to begin at 8 p.m. Friday and ending at roughly 5 a.m. Monday. The entire span of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge between Waterview Avenue and Cromwell Street will be closed during the work. The work is contingent on the weather, hence the previous cancellations.

Message signs will be deployed to inform drivers, who are encouraged to use alternate routes. Drivers are encouraged to use Russell Street/MD-295 instead.

The planned detour for southbound Hanover Street traffic routes cars south on I-95, south on MD-295, south on Waterview Avenue via Annapolis Road, then back to Hanover Street.

The planned detour for northbound Hanover Street traffic sends cars west on Waterview Avenue, north on MD-295, east on Hamburg Street, back to Hanover Street.
