BALTIMORE — A federal grant for $1.6 million will help redevelop the Hoen Lithograph Building in the Collington Square community.

The funds from the Economic Development Assistance award will be used to install water and sewage infrastructure at the former printing plant.

The new and improved building will be home to construction apprenticeships and business training programs. It is expected to create more than 100 jobs and spur more than $43 million in private investment.

"What we want to do, of course, is to work with our public and private partners to transition East Baltimore into a wonderful economic mecca where people want to return again, shop and buy and rent housing," said Dr. John Fleming, Assistance Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development.
