BALTIMORE — Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is the latest official to react to comments about Baltimore.

Carson held a press conference in the city to address the problems with housing and crime and said he's talked to President Donald Trump and hopes he will visit Baltimore to see what's working and what's not.

Carson hopes that money for self sufficiency and counseling programs will help as well as a new HUD dashboard that shows in real time how much money is given to districts and how it's spent.

"Over the last year, when you look at all the federal money that's come to Baltimore, it's been in excess of $16 million," Carson said. "I don't think there's been a lack of investment. I think perhaps we need to look at how that investment is utilized."

It's a question that people in Congressman Elijah Cummings 7th District and specifically West Baltimore have.
