BALTIMORE — Every year books are collected and given to children right here in Baltimore as part of the Scripps Howard Foundation's 'If You Give a Child a Book' campaign.

This year with your help WMAR 2 News was able to hand out more than 1,000 books to Callaway Elementary School in Northwest Baltimore. Today, the Harry and Jeanette Foundation granted the campaign a $20,000 grant.

"We're just so thankful to the Weinberg Foundation and now the Howard Scripps also for bringing all these new books to be windows and mirrors for our students," said Katie Lyons of the Library Project Librarians.

The grant was part of the Weinberg's 12th employee giving program. $660,000 worth of grants were handed out on Tuesday for organizations across Baltimore.
