BALTIMORE — Two local organizations are teaming up to foster diversity and inclusion.
The Y in Central Maryland and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore have launched a new initiative called Better Together.
The goal is to diversify both organizations and the communities they serve.
“I think at a time when there’s obviously a lot of divisiveness in our society, be it politically, there’s increased antisemitism, racism, homophobia, gender inequality,” said Barak Hermann the CEO of JCC. “It’s so many issues that can divide society. We wanted our staffs and our community to know that what goes on at the J and the Y every day is what’s good, what's healthy, and what’s authentic. We truly believe that everyone needs a J or a Y in their life.”
On Tuesday the Y and J held the first ever better together service day retreat.
After sharing ideas on how they can promote diversity and inclusion, members of both teams worked on multiple service projects throughout the community.
