Parents always look for ways to keep their kids healthy.
Unitedhealth Care and Sugar Free Kids Maryland will host a free event Wednesday to inform parents and their kids about the importance of making health choices.
"Maryland Sugar Rush" will feature a panel of health experts, community leaders and a documentary that investigates the negative impact of sugary drinks.
The event is free. It will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the New Waverly United Methodist Church.
According to Unitedhealth Care, 1 in 3 kids in Maryland is obese.
Officials said tooth decay, type 2 diabetes and other health related problems in children can be caused by their diet.
