Maryland Zoo welcomes Addra gazelle calf

Posted

A new addition at the Maryland Zoo isn't even a month old.

"Merle" is the zoo's new Addra gazelle calf. His name is French for "Blackbird."

The Zoo says Merle is healthy, but it'll be a few months before he and his parents, Wren and Mukuru, make their public debut. Officials say it's because of the cold temperatures outside.

When it gets warm, they can be found in the African Watering Hole habitat.
