Pugh announces changes to the annual African American Festival

Mayor Catherine Pugh announced some possible changes to the African American Festival this year.

The festival has been an annual gathering in the city for past 40 years. Last year, it drew around 200,000 people and cost around $500,000. It was held in the lots between M&T Bank Stadium and Camden Yards.

Pugh says that with the city's budget woes, that price tag just isn't feasible.

The mayor also hinted that the festival may now only be a one-day event instead of two, and that planners are focusing more on bringing local African-American vendors and showcasing the city's African-American community.

Mayor Pugh also mentioned the event may be moved to Druid Hill Park.

More details are expected on these changes in the coming weeks.
