Pugh promised on Tuesday she would hold a news conference about the controversy surrounding her 'Healthy Holly' book as soon as she is released from the hospital.
Mayor Pugh has recently been at the center of a larger controversy involving members of the University of Maryland Medical System Board after being involved with lucrative contracts with the healthcare provider. The president and CEO of UMMS were recently asked to take a leave of absence , and Pugh resigned her seat on the board.
The controversy centered around UMMS purchasing $100,000 worth of Pugh’s self-published book “Healthy Holly,” a deal which she did not disclose and which the medical system labeled as a grant in it’s non-profit tax filings.
Last Thursday she made a comment about the controversy , but has not spoken in a public press conference with the media since the news has been released over a week ago.
