Mayor thanks supporters of breast cancer victims

Posted

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month -- but it's not just about supporting those who are fighting breast cancer; it's about thanking the people who are standing by them as well.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake took time on Thursday to thank the men who support women and their families during an encounter with breast cancer.

"She came into the kitchen and he just said how he wished it could have happened to him instead of her," Rawlings-Blake said. "That's the burden that so many men in our lives take on, that they want to heal, to help, to take the pain away. So, for those men in our lives that offer that support, I want to say thank you."

Thank you to the men -- and women -- who offer unwavering support to their partners, relatives or friends who are dealing with this terrible disease.
