BALTIMORE — Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital's new rehabilitation center will be opening its doors on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, more than 125 rehab staff members moved patients into the $17.5 million dollar inpatient center which has 37 new private rooms and six semi-private rooms.

The nearly 60,000 square foot facility takes up the entire 5th floor of the hospital and can treat nearly 50 patients.

“Our space downstairs was a little bit outdated," said physical therapist Maggie Lister. "So it’s great to be in this new space knowing that we have all of these opportunities with our patients to be able to help them maximize their functional independence and get them home in a timely manner.”

The center has state-of-the-art technology and strategic architectural designs including the B'more Independent Way room, a training bathroom, a therapy gym and ceiling lifts for patients with limited mobility.
