Students at Morgan State University are starting the school year on a positive note, in the spirit of unity.
Faculty, staff and students gathered on campus Wednesday night for a special rally. Hundreds attended to show their MSU unity. It's a new initiative on campus spurred by student leaders to address a number of issues.
Organizers said topics like Islamaphobia, homophobia, community violence and police brutality may be weighing heavily on the minds of students.
"We want students to know no matter what is going on and what you hear in the news, this is a safe place to express your ideas," student Chinedu Nworkeaf said.
The group hopes the rally will be the beginning of an even larger discussion on campus.
