Posted

Morgan State University is going to offer a new resource to its students: a food resource center.

It's scheduled to open on December 7, 2018.

It's meant to address hunger-related issues in the Morgan State community.

A survey found 96% of students, faculty and staff members on campus said additional food resources for students are needed.

68% of students also said they were insecure about food.

"Food insecurity is a big issue on college campuses across America, often becoming a critical barrier to student success," said Morgan State University President David Wilson. "I'm pleased to see the level of engagement from our student leaders in identifying this need and bringing it to the attention of the administration along with a plan of action."

The resouce center will have nonperishable food items for students.
