BALTIMORE — While the National Aquarium remains closed to the public during the coronavirus outbreak, the Animal Rescue staff traveled to Assateague State Park on Tuesday to release seal Amelia Bedelia, their successfully rehabilitated rescue back into the ocean.

Amelia Bedelia was originally rescued on February 23 from Ocean City. Upon her arrival to the Aquarium’s Animal Care and Rescue Center, the Animal Health and Rescue teams determined she was extremely dehydrated.

Over the past few weeks under the care of the Aquarium’s Animal Rescue team, Amelia has gained weight, strength and swimming skills.
