BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore will celebrate the Preakness Stakes with a week of fun leading up to the big day.

City officials detailed Race to Preakness: A Baltimore Celebration which features several fun events for residents to enjoy all week on Wednesday.

From Monday, May 13 to Thursday, May 17, there will be happy hour events at Center Plaza in Baltimore. After a long day of work, residents can enjoy live music, drink specials, a crab derby race and other surprises. Monday’s happy hour will include a game night, Tuesday will be hospitality industry night, Wednesday will feature the Lexington Market Crab Derby Race, and Thursday will include The Night Brunch.

From Wednesday to Friday residents can enjoy Lunchtime Happenings at Harbor Market on Wednesday and Friday, and at Pratt Street Market on Thursday.

On Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Patterson Park young jockeys will compete in Pee Wee Preakness. There will be performances by Baltimore Hoop Love and One-Step MagiCompany, hands-on crafts and more activities in the park.

On Friday the week will conclude with an Inner Harbor Party and Fireworks Finale from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at West Shore park at 401 Light Street. The finale will include music, dancing, food, drinks, drone racing, games and a fireworks finale by Pyrotecnico.

Race to Preakness activities run from Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17.

The 144th Preakness Stakes will be held on Saturday, May 18 at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
