Bringing a city together through the power of books.
On Sunday community leaders in the city are going to announcing the start of One Book Baltimore, a new initiative aimed at empowering city students.
The initiative is a collaboration between multiple local organizations that will select one book a year for 7th and 8th graders to read with their families and other community members. This year's book is Dear Martin by Nic Stone and it will be given to all students for free.
The program will launch at the Baltimore Book Festival in the Inner Harbor at the Enoch Pratt Free Library Children's Tent on Sunday around 2 p.m. At 2:15 there will be a conversation with author Nic Stone and Letrice Gant.
At the tent, there will also be discussions and programming talking about the city's aim for peace and anti-violence.
If you are not a student and want to read Dear Martin, it will be available for checkout at all Enoch Pratt Free Library locations.
