A suspect is in custody following an hours-long barricade situation in the 6900 block of Reisterstown Road that began Wednesday morning.
He has not been charged, so police have not released his name yet.
"This was a long ordeal on a very hot day," Baltimore Police spokesman T.J. Smith said in an afternoon press conference.
Police said a man barricaded himself inside of his home after the sheriff's department tried to serve a warrant around 8:30 a.m. Police believed the man was armed.
Within the last hour of the barricade, gunshots were fired from the house at the officers outside, Smith said.
"We expect to have officers on the scene for a bit longer," Smith said.
Reisterstown Road was closed from Seven Mile Lane at the Baltimore County line to Labyrinth Road due to the incident. Motorists are advised to use Clarks Lane to Park Heights to Slade to Reisterstown Road as an alternate route.
