Baltimore City's red light and speed cameras could be up and running sooner than expected. No exact launch date has been set.
"I know we're still in the testing phase. We should be up and running, supposed to be in May. So I'm looking forward to us doing it right," Mayor Catherine Pugh said at the Board of Estimates meeting Wednesday. Pugh also said Baltimore is looking at how the programs in other cities are working, in the hopes of getting Baltimore's program as close to perfect as possible after the problems with the previous program.
Baltimore City is currently working with two vendors, who will have to be approved by the Board of Estimates before the cameras come back on line.
