On Thursday the city finally broke ground for the redevelopment of Northwood Plaza Shopping Center on Havenwood Road.
The old shopping center had been in a state of disrepair for several years, but now it is getting a facelift and becoming the Northwood Commons.
The Community Law Center has been working with the Hillen Road Improvement Association to make sure this new center will fit the community's needs.
"We are proud to have participated in drafting and negotiating a community benefits agreement on behalf of Hillen Road Improvement Association," said Owen Bement, Staff Attorney at Community Law Center. "It demonstrates the benefits of a developer taking the time to listen, include the needs, and address the concerns of well-organized area residents with a long term commitment of working together."
An estimated date of completion for this project has not been released.
