Two things that are usually pretty pricey are now free in parks across Baltimore City. Mayor Catherine Pugh and Recreation and Parks officials kicked off Rhythms and Reels Saturday in Union Square Park.

Now in its second year, the program features free concerts and movies throughout the city during the summer. Mayor Pugh says this event is all possible because of residents saying, “You pay taxes and you deserve the assists and you deserve the recognition and you deserve the support of the city.”

In 2016, nine organizations hosted 60 free events, drawing more than 30,000 people. This year, there will be more than 32 locations and 20 partners who will host 140 free concerts and movie events in Baltimore city parks.
