BALTIMORE — On Saturday, thousands of people are expected to lace up their running shoes for a good cause.

The 2019 Baltimore 10 Miler starts and ends outside of the Maryland Zoo with more than 5,000 runners expected to take part.

"I mean it's a challenging course and it's a challenging time of year. It tends to always be hot and humid, so I think the biggest thing for people is to be patient, especially getting out around the 5-mile mark, around lake Montebello. It's always hard coming back, and then you have the big hill right before the 9-mile mark in Druid Hill Park. So just kind of back off on that because you still have a mile to go when you get to the top," said Dave Berdan, Runner.

Proceeds from the race will be donated to a number of local organizations including the Signal 13 Foundation, The Maryland Zoo, BFG Community Foundation, and the MArk Ragonese family trust.

The race kicks off at 7:30 a.m.
