BALTIMORE — On Friday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House Democratic Caucus has approved committee appointments for Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
Congressman Mfume, who was sworn in on Tuesday, will serve on the House Oversight Committee and the House Committee on Small Business.
Speaker Pelosi released the following statement:
“It is a privilege to join my colleagues in welcoming Congressman Kweisi Mfume back to the House of Representatives, and to appoint him to the House Oversight Committee and the Small Business Committee. As a former member of the Small Business Committee, Congressman Mfume’s extensive knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to supporting America’s entrepreneurs, small business owners and consumers during this unprecedented coronavirus crisis. Following in the footsteps of his predecessor, our North Star, Chairman Elijah Cummings, Congressman Mfume will be a powerful voice for transparency and accountability on the Oversight Committee, ensuring that our government continues to work for the public interest, not the special interests. Congress and the nation will be well-served by Congressman Mfume as he brings his legislative experience and decades of tireless activism to House Democrats’ work advancing progress For The People.”
