BALTIMORE — Speculation continues to grow that a former Baltimore City Police Spokesman could be running for mayor of the city.

Earlier this week, TJ Smith filed paperwork with Maryland's State Board of Educations to form a campaign committee in 2020.

The committee is called "Friends of TJ Smith".

However, when you look at the Board of Elections website, he did not officially announce a campaign and the box that reads "office sought" was left blank.

A week ago today, Smith worked his last day as press secretary for Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski and hinted at a big announcement soon. Smith worked as the chief of communications for the Baltimore City Police Department from 2015 until October 2018.

The democratic primary will be held on April 28, with early voting starting on April 16.
