The Station North Tool Library in Baltimore gives crafty locals access to affordable building materials and workshop space.
For the past three years, the lending library has offered sliding scale membership with access to thousands of tools, from hammers and saws to snow shovels and lawnmowers. Locals can donate unwanted tools while aspiring builders can shop for materials and also take classes to learn new hands-on skills.
