BALTIMORE — Residents had heard the warnings, but weren't prepared for the heavy rain and flooding that followed on Tuesday.

As much as five inches of rain in less than two hours turned the streets into streams, sending cars floating onto sidewalks and swamping homes as well.

"I've been at this all morning. I'm slowly cleaning one side and then the other and then I've got to work on that," said John Magee, a victim of the flash floods. "I'll be here all day and probably all day tomorrow unpacking stuff that I hadn't ever planned on unpacking."

The city also spent the day cleaning up, clearing storm water drains and putting manhole covers back in place as more rain is in the forecast for Wednesday.
