The Bodyguard started as a book, then became famous when Whitney Houston played Rachel Marron and sang iconic songs "I Will Always Love You" and "I'm Every Woman".
Now it's a play with leading lady Deborah Cox playing Rachel, and Judson Mills playing her bodyguard.
The story is about a celebrity falling in love with her secret service agent turned bodyguard, who protects her from a stalker.
"It's for everybody, there's so much to this show that I think people are going to be surprised about, you know it's not your typical Broadway show," Cox said.
"There's a lot of suspense, it's frightening at times, the love story is great and there's a lot of laughs as well," Mills said.
Mills has been seen on TV in several shows, including Walker Texas Ranger and the new hit show Westworld. Now he's taking center stage with Cox hoping to get to Broadway.
"The cast the ensemble they're all, we're really tight, we're a great family so the experience overall has been really rewarding, it's been a lot of fun," Mills said.
"There's dancing and singing and acting and it's probably the biggest role I've taken on," Cox said, taking on Houston's incredible voice, and doing it justice.
Cox said she tries to stay in the moment while on stage and not let Houston seep in.
Her co-star, Mills, said he sings a little in the play as well, "I'm not going to tip my hand but I (cough) belt one out that you might enjoy," he said with a smile.
