Tree planted in honor of girl killed in Baltimore hit-and-run

Eight-year-old Amirah Kinlaw was killed in a hit-and-run in front of her school last week and Tuesday members of the community honored her memory by planting a tree on school grounds.

The Princeton Elm was planted on the grounds of Steuart Hill Academic Academy.

The third grader was leaving school near South Gilmore and West Lombard streets when she, a crossing guard, the driver of another car and a young boy were hit by a stolen car.

Police have charged the 14-year-old they believe was behind the wheel. The teen is charged as a juvenile with vehicular manslaughter.
