BALTIMORE — Being a new mom is tough, but finding a private place to breastfeed or pump on-the-go is also a challenge.

The University of Maryland Medical Center says its committed to helping moms breastfeed and opened a Mamava Lactation Pod on Tuesday.

The suite is equiped with a bench, fold-down table, mirror, dual outlet and USB port.

"Breastfeeding in open areas is completely acceptable and something we encourage women to do," said Monika Bauman, Patient Care Services Director of Women's & Children's Health. "Really what we have a challenge with is when women need to pump, pumping in public is a little more of a challenge, so this offers that opportunity for pumping."

You can find other Mamava pods at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore Penn Station, The Lieber Institute and BWI Airport.
