26-year-old dies after hitting guardrail on I-83

A 26-year-old man is dead after losing control of his car and hitting a guardrail on I-83 early Wednesday morning.

Just after midnight, state police say Michael Bouity was speeding on I-83 northbound when he lost control of his car near Ruxton Road. They say the car bounced off a guardrail, crossed the highway, and then hit another guardrail.

Bouity was ejected from the car and flew down an embankment. Medical personnel say he was pronounced dead at the scene. They say speed and not wearing a seat belt lead to the death of Bouity.

I-83 northbound was closed after the crash but is now back open.

Police say they don't know if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
