One dead following police-involved shooting on I-83 Tuesday night

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A police-involved shooting in Baltimore County left one man dead and shut down multiple lanes of I-83 South on Tuesday near Belfast Road.

Baltimore County Police say the initial call came in just before 9 p.m. at Pheasant Wood Court where a person called police saying an individual was acting aggressively.

Officers were enroute to location when the individual who had been threatening to harm others and himself left the scene. They then located the vehicle on I-83 where the interaction took place.

The officer ended up stopping the vehicle and fired at least one round. Medics responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures but the individual succumbed to his injuries.

Officials say I-83 will remain closed for the next few hours and that the incident is currently under investigation.
