It's the weekend dogs and dog lovers have been waiting for - Dogfest kicks off on Saturday!

The event is full of activities for both humans and their furry friends but it's more than just fun, it raises money for a good cause.

Dogfest is the Baltimore Humane Society's largest fundraiser of the year and the money will go towards supporting this private no-kill shelter.

“Events like this are really critical to keeping our doors open, we really need the support of the community,” explained the Director of Development, Marketing & Public Relations, Wendy Goldband.

This humane society does not get funding from the government, so it is especially important the community steps in to help.

“Dogfest is really a huge family fun event. Anybody who loves animals will have an amazing time at Dogfest! You don’t have to bring a dog, you will still see hundreds and hundreds of them and enjoy their costumes and antics while you are here,” said Goldband.

At Dogfest you can expect to see vets and trainers to answer your questions, swimming pools for dogs, games, agility yards, moonbounces, climbing walls, Crossfit, crafts, and more!

If you go you will also see some familiar faces like Shannel Pearman, Lynette Charles, and Jamie Costello who will be celebrity judges for the costume contest!

Dogfest is taking place at the Baltimore Humane Society at 1601 Nicodemus Rd in Reisterstown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
