TOWSON, Md. — Six candidates have been selected to be interviewed for the position of Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools.

The search for a permanent superintendent to run the school system started with Ray and Associates consulting company contacting more than 1,000 people in 48 states with the opportunity. A total of 41 people later applied for the position. After a screening of each individual applicant based on administrative experience and a good academic background, they were then evaluated on the criteria and qualities determined by the board.

An investigation and interview with the consulting company was also conducted on each applicant. Ray and Associates selected nine applicants out of the 41 that applied. The board then selected six people out of the recommended candidates presented.

The board confirms that the search process is on track to be completed before July 1.
