They stole watches, jewelry, even a gun.
Baltimore County Police say two burglars hit a home on Green Court in Windsor Mill on January 26, now they’ve surveillance video of the accused thieves.
“When he rang the doorbell at the neighbor’s home, they had a camera in the doorbell and that caught very good picture of at least one of the suspects while the other suspect remained at the bottom of the steps using his cellphone,” Officer Jennifer Peach said. “You don’t get a picture of him, but you do get a picture of the one that rang the doorbell.”
Peach says the video footage may be the clearest clue as to the identities of the two men.
“People are at work, people are out doing things, people are at school. They’re not home during middle of the day when these individuals struck,” Peach said.
According to police, two thieves were moving at random, trying to get into any house they could. After trying to get into a home with no success, they found an open, unsecured window to another home.
The homeowner, who didn’t want to go on camera, says he forgot to set his alarm, making easy access for the two with sticky fingers.
The burglars hopped his fence and broke right in.
The homeowner’s patio camera caught them walk out with bags of thousands of dollars in valuables.
“It appears that these two individuals are knocking on doors as if to try to sell something or ask questions about something. They appear to have a legitimate reason for being there. Unfortunately, their reason for being there is to check if someone is home,” Peach said.
