A four-car crash has killed two people and left another injured Thursday night on southbound I-83.

Around 9:30 p.m., troopers were called to the crash near Old York Road on I-83 in Parkton. Preliminary investigations reveal a man driving a Dodge pickup truck driving northbound suddenly crossed into the southbound lanes and hit a tractor-trailer.

The pickup truck then hit an SUV, which was then sent over the southbound guardrail, and a Toyota Prius then hit the pickup truck which was disabled on the road.

The driver of the pickup truck, 57-year-old David Suter, and a passenger in the SUV, 56-year-old Richard Shaw, both died on the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV, 19-year-old Mitchell Shaw, was transported by ambulance to a hospital to treat his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Because of the crash, southbound I-83 at MD 439 was closed for several hours. The cause of the crash still remains under investigation.
