ESSEX, Md (WMAR) — An area high school dismissed students early on Tuesday after potential asbestos was found inside the building.

Baltimore County Public School officials say Kenwood High School closed at 1 p.m., after a maintenance crew became aware of potential asbestos fibers in the vicinity of two stairwell fire doors.

The area was immediately closed off to students and the decision was made to have an early dismissal.

Officials say the school is expected to reopen on time on Wednesday.
